My sister and I drink coffee like the Gilmore girls, and if you don't understand that reference, I am so sorry for you. However, what that means is that we're constantly looking for places to get coffee. We had been a tad spoiled when we lived in VA because there were at least ten coffee shops within a 15 min radius of where we lived, but they can be a little harder to find in Indy. There isn't necessarily a lack of coffee shops. They just don't always have good coffee, but some of them are just unique enough to draw you in.
That is the case with coffee shop Calvin Fletcher Coffee Company. This place does not lack the traditional coffee brews, which their regular black coffees tend to be quite good, but they have also crafted some unique mixed coffee drinks. These particular drinks fit well into their bright and hipster-esque shop. This means this is not the place for everyone, and no coffee drink is a one-cup-fits-all situation.
We have tried different drinks from CFCC, from traditional mochas to cayenne coffee, and neither time have the drinks been a total win. I wouldn't even say that's it's because they are bad mixed coffee drinks, but because they are just so different in flavor profiles. Such as today, both my sister and I ordered one of their mixed coffee drinks that had lemon, lavender, and sweetened condensed milk.
I enjoyed my drink, it wasn't what I was expecting, and I think I would try something different next time, but she didn't like hers at all and couldn't finish the drink. However, the last time we went, she ordered the cayenne coffee and loved it. With this shop, it is all a matter of personal taste and how willing you are to try a unique combination that just may not be your cup of tea or coffee in this case. Overall, I think that if you're feeling brave and you're in fountain square, give it a try, and let me know what you think. I'm excited to see what might stand out to you.
